I’m delighted to have been awarded the ‘Elizabeth Hosking Prize for Watercolour’ in Wildlife Artist of the Year 2020 with ‘Tansy Beetle’. The award ceremony was held 26 June 2020.
The competition received 1,200 entries from artists across 53 countries and mine is one of 159 shortlisted artworks for the final exhibition.
The Judges comments were “We chose ‘Tansy Beetle’ for its boldness and colour, and strong and vibrant use of the watercolour medium. It is an exciting rendition of an endangered species which apparently lives only in a 20 mile stretch of the banks of the River Ouse around York – very precious indeed.” Hazel Soan and Elizabeth Hosking
